More and more states are suing each other over thee water rights. We are seeing water courts filling up their agendas in MT and other Mid Western States. And we just saw Kansas file suit against Colorado. Over the Arkansas River, which by the way does not have enough water in it for even Colorado. Kansas is suing for 53 million in damages already and they believe the amount of damages will be up each day as we look for a late El Nino incited winter season. Very mild winters predicted for Colorado and Kansas. If you will remember last years Rockies snow fall sucked big time http://www.ci.boulder.co.us/publicworks/depts/utilities/drought/Factsheet.pdf and was a disaster to ski areas and towns which were down the rivers. . http://www.ink.org/public/ksag/ and http://www.kslegislature.org and http://www.ago.state.co.us/index.htm for more information, but rest assured these types of issues will only get worsened. The City of Boulder actually filed a lawsuit if you can believe it because the Bush Team did not stop Global Warming thus hurt the cities ski season and tourism? I don’t know if I would go that far? ----------------------------- So how bad are things really, I mean really considering the media hysteria and the warnings of doom and gloom. Well we are at critical in many smaller towns and relatively advanced warnings in others. We will see things get better, but when is any ones guess? In CA, AZ, NV, UT, Northern ID and pre-Cascade OR and WA in late December of this year, and be out of drought by February and back full by April. Of course West Nile Virus will peak out by mid September in most places North however with El Nino expect Mosquito Season to continue in TX, NM, LA, MS, AL, FL for a while longer than usual. Also do not expect that to stop the birds flying South in winter from completing the 48 state problem to a larger degree than we have seen lately. --------------------------- What many fail to realize and it may not be published that much is that some cities have had to turn off the water supplies because they got too low and they cannot guarantee the safety of the water itself. Seriously this has happened, and it is not very funny from what we have read when it does. http://www.trinidadco.com/stories2002/news/07/16/water.html and http://www.uswaternews.com/archives/arcsupply/2lasveg7.html and http://www.npwa.freeserve.co.uk/water_crisis.html and http://www.emagazine.com/september-october_1998/0998feat1.html and http://www.thirdworldtraveler.com/Water/Crisis_BG.html . In some places people are concerned about containments and are buying in house filters for their drinking water; http://www.real-water.com/offwall.html . Which makes sense really.
